Feeling Intense During the Full Moon in Scorpio? A Therapist’s Perspective

Why Emotions Can Feel Heightened Right Now

You might notice stronger emotions, old memories resurfacing, or a sense of inner restlessness during a full moon associated with intensity and transformation.

From a therapy perspective, this isn’t about the moon causing your feelings—it’s about creating space to notice and process what’s already present.

When Emotional Waves Feel Like Too Much

For highly sensitive or introspective people, this can look like:

  • Emotional overwhelm or mood swings

  • Revisiting past wounds or relationship patterns

  • Feeling both ready for change and afraid of it

  • Physical tension, anxiety, or fatigue

These experiences are often signals from your nervous system asking for attention and care.

A Grounded Art Therapy Ritual for Emotional Release

This ritual is not about “manifesting” or forcing transformation—it’s about safely expressing and processing what’s already there.

What You’ll Need

  • Paper or a sketchbook

  • Any art materials (markers, paint, pencil—whatever feels accessible)

  • A quiet, comfortable space

Step 1: Settle Your Body

Before creating, take a few slow breaths. Notice where emotion lives in your body—chest, stomach, throat, shoulders.

Let that awareness guide you.

Step 2: Create Without Overthinking

On the page, express what you’re feeling using color, shape, or movement.

You might ask yourself:

  • “What does this emotion look like?”

  • “If this feeling had a texture or color, what would it be?”

There’s no need to make it “make sense.”

Step 3: Witness, Don’t Judge

When you’re done, look at what you created with curiosity.

Notice:

  • What stands out

  • What feels intense or quiet

  • Any shifts in your body as you observe

Step 4: Add Containment or Support

If the image feels overwhelming, gently add something that represents support—boundaries, soothing colors, or space around the intensity.

This mirrors how we build regulation in therapy.

Why This Works

Art therapy allows emotional processing without relying only on words. Combined with somatic awareness, it helps your nervous system move through feelings rather than becoming stuck in them.

Therapy vs. Doing It Alone

Rituals like this can be powerful, but therapy adds:

  • Structure and emotional safety

  • Support in understanding patterns

  • Evidence-based tools like EMDR and somatic therapy for deeper healing
