In this article we will go over how Telehealth therapy can benefit you!

Alright, read? Let’s jump right into how teletherapy can benefit you!

1.Save’s You Time & Money

I’m sure everyone has experiences of running late held up on the highway during rush hour while the next car over throws Wendy’s fries out the window for the pigeons to eat. No? Okay, maybe you don’t live in New York. One of the biggest factors in access to therapy is being able to travel there. . Say goodbye to traffic and anxious “running late” texts. Telehealth not only saves you time, but also money in the long run because you’re not spending as much on gas, subway, and bus fare. As long as you have a reliable computer and strong internet connection, you can visit with your therapist from the comfort of your home.

2.Increases Consistency and Regularity

Taking the guesswork and stress out of travel makes it easier to be consistent with attending sessions. Effective therapy is consistent therapy. We can’t do the transformative work if we don’t show up! Eliminating the need for to travel to a clinic helps you be more consistent with attending your session. Attending session regularly helps keep you on track with your therapeutic goals and managing your symptoms. This form of therapy also helps alleviate any anxieties about leaving the house on time. Keeping you in the headspace to do the therapeutic work and be present. As long as you have a reliable computer and strong internet connection, you can visit with your therapist from the comfort of your home!

3.No Babysitter Needed!

Many parents feel they can’t attend therapy due to childcare costs, and travel time as it can conflict with their responsibilities and showing up for the kids as parents. Telehealth allows you to attend therapy from your living room! Set the children aside in another room for privacy and you can meet with your therapist without the stress and cost of childcare! Let’s get parents meeting their emotional and mental health needs!

4.More Choice of Who You Want to Work With

One of the biggest barriers to getting therapy is location, location, location! In-person therapy requires a close enough location, and hopefully the therapist who is near you works within the specialty as it relates to your treatment needs. Teletherapy opens up you provider options to the entire statewide area! You can shop around for the therapist that meets your needs. Are you a highly sensitive person living in Upstate, New York dealing with anxiety, but all the therapist around you specializes in depressive disorders. Have no fear! You can find the therapist that specializes in your specific needs no matter where you are. (Psst. I work with highly sensitive anxious people; in case you were wondering.)

5.Therapy that meets you where you’re at

Telehealth allows you to be comfortable in your own home. Allows you to show up however you are and wherever you’re at. If you’re having a lazy day, you can attend therapy, a busy day, you can still attend therapy wherever you physically are. With the internet and a video call, the therapy will come to you and your schedule not the other way around.

6.Teletherapy is an effective form of therapy

Effective therapy involves a personal relationship between you and your therapist. So, while it may seem odd to think about seeing your therapist through a computer screen, and while yes, some things are different and certain face-to-face elements are lost, research shows that Telehealth therapy has been found to be just as effective as in person therapy.

7. Staying Safe

Though telehealth is not a new practice, in our efforts to reduce exposure to the virus we have perfected the whole telehealth process even more. Aside from the pandemic, people suffering from anxiety and depression may have a weakened immune system due to chronic stress of what’s going on in the world. Telehealth helps stop the spread and allows people to receive care even when they are feeling ill.
